I just finished reading "Strategy for Sustainability - A Business Manifesto" by Adam Werbach and wanted to share one of the many great ideas from the book.
The Personal Sustainability Project aka PSP : How I and My Family Add Up to We and the World.
Werbach is an amazing fellow - The youngest Sierra Club President, Global CEO of Saatchi and Saatchi S, and the author of many influential writings on sustainability. Acting as a consultant to Wal Mart, Werbach engaged the giant company's employees by presenting the some simple ideas about each of their Personal Sustainability Project.
From the book... "It can be as simple as preparing a family dinner once a week, serving vegetables and turning off the TV, and giving thanks for the miracle of your food. Instead of overhauling someone's lifestyle, we started by finding daily or recurring practices that can express an individual's values. We presented it as a simple voluntary commitment called personal sustainability practice or PSP for short.
Riders One is in a sense my own grand PSP but it started with some simple and self serving concepts for me at the start...
Eat Better = Loose Weight = Go Faster
Save Energy = Save Money = Ride and Race More
Those few doors opened up more and more and the flood gates have been open ever since. I hope that as our community grows we can share more ways that sustainability can help improve your lifestyle...... and your riding.
Werbach also calls this Do One Thing. Click here to learn more about PSP and DOT
What will your PSP be?
