Healthy Up Your Burger & Happy Memorial Day Weekend

Friday, May 28, 2010 |
We have been going green over here in a big way lately. Green Smoothies via Vita Mix have been a daily ritual and one that has helped the riding, recovery and overall health in a big way. I hope to share more about my personal green revolution in the upcoming months and we are actually working on getting Via Mix on board as a partner. But in the mean time, since this is a big burger weekend I thought I would share this article about the dangers of hi temp grilling and a way to counter the negative effects. Ride safe, be healthy.

... Review from Signature Cycles ....

Boo is scary, scary smooth. I took my custom Boo out last weekend for its maiden voyage and was blown away by its ability to smooth out all the vertical buzzing and bumps that are thrown at you riding on northeastern spring roads. The pot holes and road debris that I smashed through were all but eliminated under my tires. It was if I had been riding a suspension bike, not needing to swerve from road hazards at 25 mph. Typically with this amount of vertical compliance a frame will flex like a wet noodle when you stand up and attack a short power climb. No such effect, the Boo took the torque from the crank arms and immediately turned it into forward momentum. It was an eerie sensation, to have so much comfort designed into a frame and not give up rapid acceleration in the drive train.

The torsionally stiff front end and vertically compliant rear end took a little rethinking on how to take fast 90 degree turns. Once I got the idea that the rear end feels active, but it is glued to the ground, I was able to point and shoot the bike into corners with the confidence of a fighter pilot flying below the hard deck using the skyward protruding mountains as pylons. Maverick would be impressed.

This frame is as cool to look at as it is to ride. The look of this frame is incomparable. It is clear at first glance that there is a yin-yang thing going on with the Bamboo main tubes and the carbon fiber lugs. Old world meets new. The marriage works, both aesthetically and functionally. Boo delivers a unique product that begs people to ask you “How does it ride?”. The answer is like no other bike I have ever ridden ... Boo is scary fun.

I will give you a heads up that you will get your comedic critics warning you to stay away from pandas. Luckily in the Northeast, panda sightings are about as rare as Boo sightings. Although, once the word gets out about this unique bike and its ride qualities I am sure that Boo Bikes will populate the urban jungle in short order. The lead time to get your custom Boo is only five weeks.
